My husband Will was diagnosed in 2002 with chondrosarcoma in his tibia. 8 years later and several recurrences the diagnosis was changed to Dedifferentiated Extra-Axial Chordoma. He had limb sparing surgery on his right leg in 2002 and after a recurrence to the same location in 2010 it was redone again. In 2008 he had recurrence to his groin lymph nodes and lung. After surgically removing he had chemotherapy and radiation. After the limb surgery in 2010, he had radiation to his right leg. The radiation burned the skin graft so bad that it wouldn't heal and after 6 months of re-skin grafting and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, he got an infection and the right leg was amputated 6 weeks ago. I have not yet found anyone on any of the sites that have chordoma in the limbs.. all are skull base and spine related chordomas.
I'm not sure how much longer we have with this battle, but Will is a trooper and takes on any obstacle that is thrown at him.
